I love your site. I have just purchased a lovely miniature but need to do some research. The portrait is of a young lady and it appears to be painted around 1720-30 by her hair and dress. On the back is a label that appears to read Countess of Salisbury Zincke (then very hard to read) given by mother to Constance (again illegible) KMV or KMW...... can't read the rest. It is in a plain gold pendant style frame. I can send pictures if necessary. How can I find out more about this picture.
The term "historical detective" may sound a little strange, but is the easiest way to express the intent of this research.
Seeking information to expand historical knowledge and finding, surprisingly often, "conventional wisdom" needs revision
